Camp-life

27 June 2008

Photobucket

Well as usual, camp was the best and I didn’t want to settle back into “normal life”. But work on Monday sure kicked me back into gear. I always feel so different at camp – less caring, less scared, less to worry about and think about.

Matt (my big bro from Derby) came down for the weekend as well and I love this picture of the two of us just outside the UV party on Friday:

The weekend itself was based on a holiday theme and we had activities to do during the day as well as the drunken parties at night. I even did fencing! Which I have never done before, so a chance to jaba jaba someone with a pointy stick was too good to miss.

This week has been pretty busy so not much chance to update… now the sun’s out I wanna be out there *looks at the window* not in here. I can do that all winter and all night, we don’t see the blue sky enough so I have to make the most of it when it does make an appearance.

Off to see Bon Jovi tonight, what a busy month. Unfortunately Don couldnt make it, but I hope he has a semi-good day at least *hugs* O and he was pleased I wore that orange top above, at camp I do have more confidence to just go for it … everything always seems different at camp, that and there’s very few mirrors to catch a glimpse of how scary you look.

FOUR WEEKS ‘TIL ESSEX JAMBOREE!

Off I go…

20 June 2008

Off to camp! I’ll update when I’m back. It’s gonna be a great and mad weekend :D woooop!

O and I’ll explain more on Monday but … lappys back and has a new harddrive. No idea what that has to do with the internet, but we shall see at the end of the weekend.

The Not-So-Techy Tech Guys

12 June 2008

Well as promised… an update on my now returned dearly beloved lappy.

Photobucket

When I took it out of its bag it all looked normal, I even noted the new silver socket at the back that made putting the AC adaptor in quite stiff, but better than being loose in my opinion. Then I opened the screen and ooo its all clean and shiny. Sometimes I do think that these guys are better at cleaning than fixing, it always looks so new when it comes back.

Next was to turn the thing on … and this is where the problem starts :(

It still takes ages to load up, no surprises there as there’s nothing that can be done about that. But then once it had loaded up I had no internet. Before it went it had a bad connection, but at least it connected. Now though, it has none. So I unplugged the charger and took lil lappy downstairs so that it was right next to the router. Refresh, refresh, refresh, it’s still not working. Then because of the very weak battery (which should really be replaced but I am not spending 100 quid on a new one when I hope to get a new working lappy out of my 21st birthday money in a few months) it cut out and lappy turned off.

Back up to the adaptor I went to get some power and then to ring the Tech Guys … again.

The man I got through to tried to tell me to turn the wireless on and off, then to reboot the router whilst refreshing the list and then to restart lappy (I’d already tried all of that with no success), but then he told me to uninstall the wireless card :S sounded dangerous to me .. but what the heck I was on the phone to a “professional”. Anyways needless to say even after uninstalling the wireless drives and then rebooting the system not even the Tech Guy could get any sign of internet life outta my poor lil lappy.

He then mentioned a system restore … wooooooooooh easy there, you know the trouble I had last time you guys told me to do that?! I was connected manually to the router (so a not-so-wireless wireless connection) for a day and a half downloading all the updates for all the drivers on this thing before I could even think about connecting wirelessly let alone do anything else. So that is my last last LAST resort. To which he replied: “Well, I’d best book this thing in for collection then, bet you’re gutted, you only just got it back” … well state the obvious there.

I’m more than gutted … this laptop will now be going to see the Tech Guys for its fourth little holiday, let’s hope that once it returns from its exciting expedition that whole lot works, internet and all.

MAD shopping

12 June 2008

Now to those who do not know, this is shopping for a camp next weekend called MAD, hence the name.

Well the Friday night is a neon party and so I now have a BRIGHT yellow top (to be added to with neon paints) and orange shorts. Then the Saturday night is Magaluf, a beach party… but our Network group (Phoenix) is going in a YMCA theme and I’m the Army Cadet. So I now have camo 3/4s and a camo hat, as well as my sisters BIG black boots. I must say it looks pretty funky :)

Other great news: lappy is back! Not quite made it home yet as Mum has it at work, but it’s apparently been fixed.. twas so fast! We’ll just have to wait and see how fixed it is… i mean first time I sent it off for the fan to be fixed, it came back with a new screen and then on the second time they finally fixed it as well as giving it a nice clean. Let’s see what’s been done this time (I told them about the connector and the wireless card :P ).

Off to the pub tonight, was gonna go up GAY in London, but Yaz’s motorbike has broken again, so a cheap night down the pub suits our budgets far better.

Lappy boomed!

10 June 2008

I will post soon … I will …

But my lappy is broken *cue crying* and it has been taken away to the lappy hospital for seriously sick lappys. Recovery is about 10 to 14 working days .. a nicer way of saying… AGES!

My wonderful Nana has lent me hers though :D but, well, I’ve been trying to work my magic on it to make it faster and in return been too preoccupied to post *hides*.

But soon! Soon I will and hopefully I’ll have my lappy back home safe and sound in about 2 weeks.

Stick people sticking together

1 June 2008

As promised, here’s a picture of the Cubeworld me and Don have between us. We spent ages trying to do a video of them, but the lighting was terrible. He even said I had OCD because I wanted it perfect.

But when that didn’t work I just grabbed my digital camera and did a quick video of them … but … well my attempt is pretty poor quality so I’ll try one another day. But here’s a picture of them (not all are on, only the ones on the left as I was testing the group animation that each series does):

Photobucket

They are so addictive to watch! Really! Search them on YouTube, some of the videos are hilaious.

Also, I’m off to Colchester on Tuesday. Decided tonight! My friend Rhia from school goes to Essex Uni there and so we made a last minute decision that I’d go and help her pack up her stuff and have a girly few days. Should be great!
